Hundred-aker-wood goes mobile
In an effort to bring the joy of making pottery closer to you,
David is starting pottery lessons for beginners at two location
in Weymouth using the latest portable electric potters wheel and
superior working clays.
On Thursdays, Hundred-aker-wood pottery will be
at the Victory Hall in Putton Lane, Charlestown, starting on Thursday
8th January.
Fridays see the pottery moving to the Mission
Hall in Sutton Poyntz, starting on Friday 9th January.
All sessions last two and a half hours from 1900 till 2130
Available places limited to 5 throwers (one person per available
wheel) and 5 hand build/sculpture potters at each evening venue.
Costs
Adults £96 per person per term
Under 16 £64 per child per term. (no charge for accompanying
non potting adults)
£2.50 for each completed, glazed and twice fired item of
pottery made.
Small donation for coffees/teas etc.
All tools provided. All clay and materials included in price.
Materials and equipment.
Only White St Thomas clay will be used for throwing. No repugged clay is used by Hundred-aker-wood pottery for lessons.
The electric wheels used for each lesson are one Discus Craftsman
potters wheel and four of the new electronic Cowley Hush potters
wheel.
12 weeks course of structured lessons.
The 12 week beginners course consists of the following
elements :
Week 1 Wedging, centring & coning.
Week 2 Opening and lifting
Week 3 Throwing a simple bowl.
Week 4 Turning
Week 5 Repetition throwing
Week 6 Using bats
Week 7 Throwing deep bowls
Week 8 Throwing a Vase
Week 9 Mugs, jugs and cups
Week 10 Handles and Lids
Week 11 Plates and footrings
Week 12 Making glazes
